Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather events, the city of La Vergne Public Works department is prepared to serve the citizens.

As many as five (5) snow plow trucks can be deployed at one time to spread salt and plow the roads. 

With enough notice, the streets department will pre-treat some hills and subdivisions that become dangerous or impassable once snow accumulation begins. However, once snow begins to fall, trucks will not return to subdivisions for salting or plowing. With some roads being difficult to navigate, it is recommended that, if possible, residents remain in their homes until the accumulated ice and/or snow is able to melt enough to be safe to drive.

While not guaranteed, the public works department strives to plow and salt on all of the main roads and secondary roads within the city during inclement weather events. As a general rule, city trucks will not plow or salt subdivision roads. Some areas will be treated if a particular subdivision only has one way in and out.

Public Works Crews

Typically during inclement weather, response crews are made up of the various public work departments, including streets, sewer, water, and fleet. Supervisors closely monitor weather predictions and, once the snow begins to fall, calls in crews scheduled to plow and salt within the city. These workers typically work between 10 and 14 hour days to keep up with the snow and ice, focusing on main and secondary roads.

Emergency Services and Inclement Weather

La Vergne's police and fire departments will always respond to emergency calls, even during inclement weather events. Should a road be impassable or difficult to navigate, public works crews will be called to respond and salt as needed.
