Citizen Police Academy

About

The La Vergne Police Department believes good citizen-police interactions and cooperation are necessary for an exceptional quality of life in the community. One way to achieve this goal is through an exchange of ideas and education.

The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) at the La Vergne Police Department is an excellent way to achieve this end. Across the country, this idea has been met with enthusiasm. The CPA meets weekly for 7 weeks at the police station behind City Hall.

CPA Information

The CPA will include detailed information on topics including but not limited to: uniformed patrol, special operations, criminal investigations, youth and criminal law, and much more. Based on recommendations from citizens and previous CPA classes, a ride-along with a uniformed patrol officer is available as part of the curriculum, but not a requirement.

A combination of lecture and interactive formats will be used so that the CPA will be informative, interesting, and fun. Attendance is important for your success in the class. Each class is limited to 15 participants.
