20. Important Information
    • The deadline to sign up online to speak is noon on the day of the meeting.
    • Online sign ups will be included on the written sign up sheet prior to it being put out for in-person sign ups the night of the meeting.
    • The deadline to sign up on the written sheet is 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the meeting in question.
    • Each person is permitted to speak during the public comment period for three (3) minutes. 
    • The board members are not permitted to respond to speakers during the public comment period, but will take all comments presented under advisement.
    • The public comment period shall not last longer than thirty (30) minutes. 
    • The order of sign ups for a particular meeting is established on a first come, first serve basis, but does not guarantee the opportunity to speak before the Board.
    • Per the La Vergne Municipal Code (Title 1, Chapter 1, Section 1-103): "To the extent that there are ascertainable opposing viewpoints among the persons registered to speak at the meeting in question, the Mayor may recognize those persons to speak in an order that allows opposing viewpoints to be heard to the extent doing so is practicable."
