Captain Kaul has a master’s degree from MTSU and TSU in Criminal Justice Administration. He has been married for more than 20 years to his wife, Kandy, and has two sons.
Captain Kaul was hired as a police officer in 1999 for the City of La Vergne. He was added to the SWAT Team and also became a K-9 handler for K–9 Kash. During his time in La Vergne, Captain Kaul has worked as a corporal, sergeant, detective, and lieutenant. He was promoted to captain in 2022.
Kaul served as the SWAT Commander for nine years and retired from the SWAT Team after nearly 20 years of service, along with supervising the K-9 unit. He has also worked extensively with Law Enforcement Command Staffs, District Attorney’s Office and judges within Rutherford County along with Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
