La Vergne Aldi - Murfreesboro Road

"Downtown La Vergne" Update

The Aldi development is just about complete and ready to open. The latest update city officials have received from Aldi puts the official store opening in the early March timeframe, though no official dates on a soft opening or grand opening have been set.

The latest work citizens will see in the area is the intersection and traffic light installation on Murfreesboro Road at Veterans Memorial Parkway. The project is expected to take about a month to complete. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use caution, and keep an eye out for construction crews in the area. The traffic light project is being coordinated by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

La Vergne named one of the 'Best Places to Work in Tennessee'

City of La Vergne Named One of the 'Best Places to Work in Tennessee'

The City of La Vergne was recently named one of the ‘2025 Best Places to Work in Tennessee’ by Best Companies Group.

13 businesses in Tennessee were awarded this year, with the City of La Vergne being the only municipality to earn the title. The winners were determined based on a company assessment of publicly or privately held businesses in Tennessee and a survey distributed to those company’s employees.

“We are extremely proud of this achievement,” says Director of Human Resources Andrew Patton, who made the announcement at Thursday’s monthly Board of Mayor and Aldermen workshop. “City Administration and department directors have been intentional about internal engagement and while compensation is a frequent topic of conversation, company morale defines the success of our organization.”

The virtual awards ceremony will be held on February 13 and a publication highlighting the City of La Vergne and other winners will be published on February 24.

Mayor Jason Cole

Message from the Mayor

Throughout the month of February, we recognize and celebrate Black History. This is a time to reflect on the contributions, sacrifices, and resilience of African Americans, while celebrating their rich and impactful history and culture marked by countless achievements, immeasurable contributions, and impact on our nation.

New City Facility Nearing Completion

The new Public Works and Community Development Services Facility is nearing completion and the city is counting down the days until staff can move in!

The facility, located at 1500 E. Nir Shreibman Boulevard (just past the roundabout), is more than 63,000 square feet, and will be home to many departments including water billing, economic development, information technology, codes, planning, engineering, stormwater, and public works departments including streets, fleet maintenance, water, and sewer. Other departments will remain at City Hall, including administration, city court, human resources, public relations, and finance.

The biggest impact the new facility will have on citizens will be the relocation of the water billing department, which is currently at City Hall. More information on an official change-over date, as well as the facility's grand opening, will be released once move-in dates can be set.

The project was designed by Lambe + Associates and the construction bid was awarded to Baron Construction, LLC.

Police Department Hosts R.A.D. Classes, Waitlist Closed

The La Vergne Police Department is once again hosting Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) classes for women wanting to learn simple yet effective self-defense skills designed with the intention of escaping. The free course is a 12-hour program delivered in four, three-hour classes with lecture portions as well as hands on tactical training.

The February class was filled in a matter of minutes of registration opening and, unfortunately, the waitlist for the class has been closed. This is due, in part, to the limited class sizes and the overwhelming response received from the community. The registration form and waitlist will reopen again when spots become available. Interested participants are encouraged to follow the La Vergne Police Department on Facebook for any announcements on the program and spot availability as well as community updates from the police.
