August Elections

Don't forget to vote today, August 1! Sample ballots are available on the Rutherford County Election Commission's website. For more information, visit the Rutherford County Election Commission's website.

Running for Office in La Vergne

Two aldermen seats will be open during the November 2024 election season. The seats are currently held by Vice-Mayor Steve Noe and Alderman Dennis Waldron. The deadline to turn in paperwork is noon (12:00 p.m.) on the third Thursday of the third calendar month prior to the election (August 15, 2024). If you're interested in running for office, you can find more information for candidates on the Election Commission's website.

School Bus with Students

RCS Back in the Classroom

August 7 marks the first day back at school (abbreviated) for Rutherford County Schools students. August 8 will be the first full day in the classroom. It's important to remember that school zones will be more congested following the summer break and drivers should take it slow, watching for parents and families dropping off students.

  • Watch for school zones and pay attention to crossing guards
  • Put your phone - and other distractions - away!
  • Drop off and pick up in designated areas
  • Carpool when possible
  • Watch for kids around parked cars
  • Stop for buses loading or unloading students

Fire Station #41 Grand Opening

The new fire station #41, named in honor of former Fire Chief Richard "Ricky" McCormick, on Old Nashville Highway has officially been completed! Firefighters have moved into the building and are serving the community from the new station. The grand opening is scheduled for August 20.

"This project has been a long time coming," says Mayor Jason Cole. "We are exceedingly proud of the men and women who serve our community and we hope this state-of-the-art building will provide them with everything they need to continue to do the job to the best of their abilities for years to come."

The new location is roughly 28,000 sq. ft., provides better training facilities, new administrative offices, a 120 person classroom that can also serve as an emergency operations center, and enough room to house up to 13 firefighters per shift. There are four pull-through bays for seven emergency response vehicles.

Community Connect

Community Connect

Have you signed up for the La Vergne Fire Rescue Department's Community Connect program yet?

This is a great program (that's as secure as your bank account!) that allows you to input important information about your household and your family so that, in the event of an emergency, first responders can be more informed about what needs your family has. This can include how many people live in the house, what pets you have, anyone with special needs, emergency evacuation routes or meeting spots, and much more! This program can also be utilized by businesses in the community.
