In 1989 the governing body of La Vergne approved an ordinance to begin collecting property taxes. Business tax and tax reports were added to the office in 1990. Other duties include issuing new business licenses to businesses in the City of La Vergne.

The current tax rate is $0.5363 per $100 assessed value. To learn the exact amount of your annual property taxes, contact the Tax Department at 615-793-3388.

Assessment

The tax rate is currently $0.5363 per $100 of assessed value. The rate is set by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Assessment rates are as follows:

  • Residential Property - 25% of the appraised value per the Rutherford County Assessor office.
  • Commercial Property - 40% of the appraised value per the Rutherford County Assessor office.
  • Personal Property - 30% of the declared value.

To avoid interest, total taxes must be paid by the last day of February the following year.

Interest will be accrued at the rate of 1.5% each month.

Delinquent Taxes

Please contact the Rutherford County Chancery Court for any delinquent taxes owed older than two years (ex: If 2025 taxes are currently owed, you cannot pay 2023 taxes through the tax department)
